The curriculum in grades 1 through 6 emphasizes language arts, mathematics,
natural sciences, and social studies. In addition, students have classes in
music, art, physical education, French, Spanish (grades 5 and 6), computer technology, and media
literacy. To enhance curricula, frequent field trips as well as guest
speakers are integrated into the program. The "Open Court" series is at the
heart of the reading program, and the Scott Foresman/Addison Wesley series
is the basis of the mathematics program through grade six.

preparation for secondary education in order to have opportunities to choose
from local independent high schools, boarding schools, and magnet schools.
Students take six academic courses: Mathematics, Science, Social Studies or
History/Civics, Literature, GVC (Grammar, Vocabulary, Composition), and
French or Spanish. The basic curriculum is supplemented by courses in
physical education, music, art, and technology. Advanced students have the
opportunity to receive high school credit in Algebra, French, and Spanish.
Furthermore, enrichment classes include, but are not limited to, drama,
yearbook, wellness, service learning, careers, public speaking, and academic
teams.
