Mason Prep is well equipped with technology to help our students develop the computer skills that are necessary in today's information driven society.

A Glimpse Inside

• Technology lab features twenty-five student work stations, enough for each child to do individual work on a separate computer.
• Mason Prep's traveling computer lab contains twenty-five notebook computers capable of wireless communication, allowing teachers to bring technology to all students in their classes.
• Each homeroom comes to computer class in the lab at least once per week (once/week for 1st-6th grades, twice/week for 7th-8th grades).
• Each classroom has computers available for student use throughout the day.
• Technology curriculum develops computer skills, particularly tools for researching, organizing, and presenting ideas.
• Classrooms are equipped with sound systems and projectors to enhance instruction and reach the needs of various learning styles. Many classrooms hold interactive white boards, and all classes have access to digital cameras as well.

Focus Overview

Grades 1-2

• Develop familiarity with computers
• Use computers to supplement math and reading skill development

Grades 3-6

• Develop proper keyboarding skills (3rd and 4th grades attend computer class an extra class
  per week for keyboarding
• Use technology resources for research purpose
• Use technology tools for individual and collaborative writing, presentation, and
  publishing activities
• Explore proper and safe internet usage

Grades 7-8

• Develop an understanding of hardware and software concepts
• Continue to develop technology research skills
• Use productivity and multimedia tools and peripheral equipment for personal
  productivity and group collaborations across the curriculum
