grades 5 - 6
During this developmental stage, students begin to explore their own individuality, growing more and more independent. At an exciting time academically, our faculty understands that these students need room to discover and grow in a safe and caring environment.
The students rotate to each class where they are provided with academic opportunities and learning experiences that foster creative and critical thinking. Within a challenging curriculum, our faculty remains sensitive to the needs of each student and provides the necessary support to develop each student's intellectual potential. Our teachers also focus on collaboration, working closely to plan meaningful learning across the curriculum. This cooperative approach among the faculty not only promotes authentic academic learning but also serves as a model for the benefits of collaboration.
Citizenship is a cornerstone of the mission of Mason Preparatory School. In addition to each homeroom electing two student council representatives, our 6th grade students are given the privilege of serving the school in positions of leadership. Two officers on our student council, elected in a school-wide ballot, have genuine input into the direction of health, safety, and the environment at our school.
Through rigorous academic programs paired with a nurturing atmosphere and emphasis on citizenship, our Intermediate School strives to prepare our students for the upper grades and for lifelong learning.
