5th Grader’s Beautiful Designs Help Others

This student creates beautiful shells to help others.
Lana’s grandmother taught her how to paint oyster shells over the summer. She enjoyed it so much that she kept at it and started her own company, Lana’s Lowcountry Shells. Muddy Waters (a coffee shop on James Island) began carrying her beautiful shells and sales have taken off! Lana is donating a portion of her proceeds to MUSC Children’s Hospital and to the Do It for the Love Foundation, a wish-granting nonprofit organization that brings people with life-threatening illnesses, children with severe challenges and illnesses, and wounded veterans to live concerts.
