Looking Ahead with Purpose
Mason Prep begins this next chapter from a position of strength. We know who we are, what we value, and what makes the Mason Prep experience distinctive. But strong schools don’t stand still. As the needs of students and families evolve, thoughtful planning helps ensure that the decisions we make today support the school we want Mason Prep to be tomorrow.
Our five-year Strategic Plan grew from months of listening, reflection, and conversation with members of the Mason Prep community. At its heart are three commitments that have long defined our school: Inspiring Curiosity, Developing Character, and Fostering Community. The work ahead is to clearly define, intentionally support, and adequately resource our school so that our mission continues to thrive.
Through five Guiding Principles: Academic Excellence, Faculty Excellence, Student Experience, Campus Alignment, and Board Stewardship, the plan provides a framework for making thoughtful decisions about Mason Prep’s future. Most importantly, it keeps our students at the center: strengthening how they learn, expanding how they lead and grow, supporting the teachers who know them well, and ensuring that the Mason Prep experience remains exceptional for today’s students and generations of Knights to come.

Guiding Principles
Our Guiding Principles serve as our decision framework to determine what to pursue, strengthen, fund, and where to place our greatest institutional energy.
Guiding Principle 1: Academic Excellence
Mason Prep will be known for an academic experience that is deeply personal, intellectually disciplined, and rooted in the formation of students who learn to think well. THE GOAL: Define academic excellence more clearly across each stage of the student journey, strengthen the distinctiveness of the middle school experience, and ensure that tradition and innovation work together to support deep learning.
Guiding Principle 2: Faculty Excellence
Mason Prep’s promise to our students depends upon the skill, diligence, and care of our faculty and staff. THE GOAL: Continue to support faculty and staff through meaningful professional development, clearer expectations, stronger communication, and a thoughtful evaluation system that helps sustain the student experience that Mason Prep families value.
Guiding Principle 3: Student Experience
Mason Prep will create a student experience that grows richer, broader, and more purposeful as students progress through the school. THE GOAL: Give students increasing opportunities to lead, serve, explore, create, and take responsibility for themselves and others as they mature, thereby strengthening the Intermediate and Middle School experiences.
Guiding Principle 4: Campus Alignment
Mason Prep is committed to developing our campus to reflect the quality, care, and purpose of the student experience we seek to provide. THE GOAL: Align facilities planning with academic priorities, student life, safety needs, and long-term program goals, ensuring that our campus supports Mason Prep’s mission, the strategic priorities of this plan, and our student experience.
Guiding Principle 5: Board Stewardship
Mason Prep will align Board leadership, financial stewardship, and fundraising depth to provide the resources required to advance the school’s strategic priorities. THE GOAL: Intentionally connect tuition and fundraising strategy to clearly defined priorities, and build a broader culture of giving that supports Mason Prep’s students, faculty and staff, campus, and long-term institutional growth and vitality.
