Looking Ahead with Purpose
Mason Prep begins this next chapter from a position of strength. We know who we are, what we value, and what makes the Mason Prep experience distinctive. But strong schools don’t stand still. As the needs of students and families evolve, thoughtful planning helps ensure that the decisions we make today support the school we want Mason Prep to be tomorrow.
Our five-year Strategic Plan grew from months of listening, reflection, and conversation with members of the Mason Prep community. At its heart are three commitments that have long defined our school: Inspiring Curiosity, Developing Character, and Fostering Community. The work ahead is to clearly define, intentionally support, and adequately resource our school so that our mission continues to thrive.
Through five Guiding Principles: Academic Excellence, Faculty Excellence, Student Experience, Campus Alignment, and Board Stewardship, the plan provides a framework for making thoughtful decisions about Mason Prep’s future. Most importantly, it keeps our students at the center: strengthening how they learn, expanding how they lead and grow, supporting the teachers who know them well, and ensuring that the Mason Prep experience remains exceptional for today’s students and generations of Knights to come.

- Independent, non-profit, co-ed school for grades Pre-K-8 - Total student population: approximately 335 - Student to teacher ratio: 10:1 - Two homerooms per grade - School hours 8:00 - 3:05, with faculty supervision beginning at 7:30 - Extended care available on full school days until 5:45 - Our graduates enroll in an outstanding variety of public and private high schools. - Where our families live: 27% Mt. Pleasant, 25% James Island, 15% West Ashley, 9% Downtown, 9% Johns Island, 17% Other
Programs
- Weekly curriculum including art, music, Innovation & Design, library, physical education, SEL, French and/or Spanish - State-of-the-art technology equipment with technology instruction beginning in Kindergarten; 1:1 school-provided Chromebooks for students in Grades 3-8 - Carnegie unit (high school credit) available in Algebra I and French I or Spanish I for proficient 8th grade students - Varied sports programs available for boys and girls; developmental basketball program for our younger Knights and interscholastic competition in grades 2-8 - After-school enrichment offerings in many areas, such as: STEAM class, dance, chess, soccer, pickleball, improv, and more

- Individual assistants in Pre-K, kindergarten, and 1st grade classes, shared assistants in grades 2-4 - Full-time learning specialist - School Psychologist
