Mason Prep Students Prepared to Thrive in High School
"Where do your students go to high school?" We get that question a lot, and the answer is simply, "the one that is the best fit for the student and his or her family."
That’s the beauty of our model — middle school students have the chance to choose a high school based on their own interests, passions, and preferences when that time comes. After a season of incredible growth in seventh and eighth grade, they look forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead. Some graduates choose large public high schools, others choose smaller, independent schools — but one thing connects them: a feeling of confidence for the road ahead. Year after year, our graduates tell us they felt well prepared to make the transition from Mason Prep School to the high school of their choosing.
Mills Jordan’s experience of graduating from Mason Prep and moving on to Academic Magnet High School has been an extremely positive one. He says, “Compared to many of my peers who came [to Academic Magnet] from different schools, I feel like I was given better study skills that I practiced and developed. Also, the English, grammar and writing skills from Mason Prep are much farther ahead than [those provided by] basically any school in the county.”
Mills' mom, Jenny, also weighs in, giving her take on the transition. “At Mason Prep, Mills had the community – between the families, the teachers, the administration, the students – that gave him confidence. Through his primary years, he developed a confidence and a sense of community so that, by the time he was ready for high school, he went off running and never looked back.”
Mason Preparatory School is committed to the education of the whole child in preparation for secondary education through the cultivation of respect, integrity, and personal responsibility within a nurturing environment that results in a productive citizen of a global community.
