The Annual Fund ensures that Mason Prep Knights receive unparalleled experiences in academics surrounded by a warm, caring and encouraging community in all areas of pursuit on campus. The collective generosity of the Mason Prep Family sends a strong signal of support for the mission of Mason Prep and plays a vital role in advancing the priorities of our strategic plan.
Momentum in Our Mission
Every investment gives us more momentum in our mission as our students learn about respect, integrity, and personal responsibility.
We ask our families, alumni, and friends to make voluntary annual donations to benefit our students, teachers, and programs. Gifts to The Annual Fund are investments in our outstanding academics, growing athletic program, faculty retention, and salaries, faculty professional development, financial aid, technology and more! Some of our recent large scale projects include enhanced security across campus, the library and media center renovation, and new turf—all reflecting key priorities within our strategic plan.
Supporting Your Priorities
Make an unrestricted gift or designate your support for a program that aligns with your passions.
- Designated Giving: Provide resources for the components of the Mason Prep experience that are important to your family, like athletics, financial aid/scholarships, arts, facilities, or other programs.
- Unrestricted Giving: Support Mason Prep’s highest priorities and give school leadership maximum flexibility to pursue important initiatives and direct resources where they are needed most.
Annual Fund Events and Initiatives
Golden Ticket
Our annual opportunity to win the trip of a lifetime while supporting our school. Tickets are sold at the beginning of the year and at Kickoff Knight, and Golden Tickets are available for everyone who loves MPS!
Giving Day
Castles & the Community Each year, MPS holds a 24-hour giving day called Castles & the Community fueled by our community's generosity. The four Mason Prep Castles engage in a friendly competition to raise funds to support both the Mason Prep Annual Fund and Charleston nonprofits. Each Castle votes to select their favorite nonprofit, and after our day of giving, each Castle presents their chosen nonprofit with a check for 10% of the funds raised on behalf of that Castle.

What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is the highest area of need at Mason Prep and the foundation of everything we do each day. It provides a critical source of funding that impacts each student’s experience at Mason Prep.
Why do we need the Annual Fund?
Tuition alone, only covers 92% of the full cost of a Mason Prep education for each student. The Annual Fund helps bridge that gap in the school’s operating budget, allowing us to provide an exceptional experience for every student.
Why not just raise tuition to cover the gap?
We are committed to keeping tuition affordable and accessible to all of our families, while retaining phenomenal faculty and maintaining small class sizes.
How are Annual Fund donations spent?
The Annual Fund directly supports the areas of great need, which can vary from year to year as we determine the best way to serve our students and faculty.
The Annual Fund supports our outstanding academics, growing athletic program, faculty retention and salaries, faculty professional development, financial aid, technology and much more. In recent years, funding has enhanced campus security, supported the library and media center renovation and the replacement of the turf.
Can gifts be designated for a specific purpose?
Yes! Although the Annual Fund seeks unrestricted gifts to support immediate and at times, unexpected needs, we understand that there are specific areas your and your family may be passionate about.
Please let us know if there is a specific area you wish to support, like athletics, financial aid/scholarships, arts, facilities, or other programs.
How does the Annual Fund specifically benefit my child?
The Annual Fund benefits each child at Mason Prep. It supports the programs, faculty, and facilities that touch your child’s daily experience.
Why is my participation important and how much should I give?
When we receive support from a Mason Prep family, it demonstrates that those at the heart of our community believe in and support our mission. Every gift and every donor makes a huge impact. There is no “right” amount, as every donation shows your support of our mission and school.
Participation in the Annual Fund not only helps sustain our programs, but demonstrates a committed school community. Foundations use this participation number as an indication of a strong school community when considering support or grant proposals.
