New Faculty Members

We are so happy to welcome five new teachers to our school!
Mary Lang Regen, Fourth Grade Teacher
Ms. Regen comes to Mason Prep from Legette Blythe Elementary School in Charlotte, NC. During her time at Legette Blythe, she participated on the school improvement team and the International Baccalaureate committee. Ms. Regen has also served as a Teaching Resident in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from UNC Chapel Hill.
 
Karlien Eiseman, Media Specialist
Ms. Eiseman comes to Mason Prep from Buist Academy, where she was a fifth grade Language Arts teacher and a Creative Writing Club advisor. In addition to teaching in the classroom, Ms. Eiseman's love of literature and language led her to teaching English as a Foreign Language in schools in Mexico City and the Netherlands. Ms. Eiseman received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Middle Childhood Education from Kent State University and her Master's Degree in Education in Advanced Studies from the American College of Education.
 
Tyler Merillat, PE Teacher
Mr. Merillat comes to MPS from Cleveland State University, where he served as Assistant Athletics Director, Academic Services. In this role, he worked closely with student athletes to ensure success in athletics and academics.  Mr. Merillat has also served as Associate Director for Student-Athlete Services at Central Michigan University and Academic Advisor at Weber State University. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University and his Master of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Ms. Stacey Keller, Kindergarten Associate Teacher
Ms. Keller comes to Mason Prep from the Charleston County School District, where she worked in Literacy Intervention. She previously taught Kindergarten and First Grade in the Cobb County School District. She is trained in Orton Gillingham and served on Literacy Design and Student Support teams. Ms. Keller received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky and her Masters in Education from Georgia State University.
 
Ms. Shelley Aksomitas | Part-Time Math Teacher
Ms. Aksomitas will be teaching several math classes for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. She has taught in the Charleston County School District (Moultrie Middle and James Island Middle), holds her National Board Certification in Adolescent Mathematics, and has extensive experience teaching multiple problem-solving strategies to help students find success in math. Ms. Aksomitas earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and her Masters in Math and Science Education from The College of Charleston.
