Ms. Quattrone has a third grade homeroom (the Cuties!) and teaches ELA, math, and social studies. She has been teaching since 2008. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education and her Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum from Michigan State University (she loves her Spartans!)
What inspired you to be a teacher?
I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I absolutely adored my teachers and wanted to be just like them! I was painfully shy, anxious, and struggled with math when I was in school. These experiences motivated me to want to help others who struggled like I did. I wanted to make sure I could provide my students with a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and feel proud when they overcome challenges.
What is something unique that you bring to the learning experience at MPS?
I love to travel and often find ways to incorporate what I've learned from visiting new places into my lessons. I am also a huge Hamilton fan, and I love using Hamilton songs to teach history.
What do you love about MPS?
I love our MPS community! I love that our school is small enough to really get to know the students and their families on a deeper level. It feels like a big family.
What is the most important life lesson that you want your students to take from your class?
One lesson I would like for my students to take away is learning to be accepting of others and their differences. I want them to understand that everyone is unique and our differences should be celebrated. I want them to see that everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and it is so important to support one another rather than bring each other down. In a world where you can be anything, be kind!
Any funny stories to share about teaching?
Something funny happens literally every single day! What I love about having a new class each year is that we always end up with multiple inside jokes. It's fun to see former students in the hallway and still be able to reminisce.
Have any fun facts about yourself you would like to share?
As most people know, I am a huge Michigan State fan! I have a background in dance and also received a specialization in dance from Michigan State.
What is one of your favorite spots in Charleston?
I can't pick only one! My favorites are Crust, The Tempest, and Halls.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I love hanging out with my family, friends, and my 10-year-old pup, Jack. I'm also in a bowling league and have recently started golf lessons. When I can, I LOVE to travel and experience new cities, countries, and cultures!
