Car Line Information

Carpool Map for drop-off and pick-up.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Times
All Students: Arrival 7:30-8:00 AM and dismissal at 3:05 PM. Please see the carpool map for traffic flow at drop-off and pick-up times.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Spots
Pre-K Families: all students in a Pre-K family should be dropped off and picked up at the courtyard entrance on Bull St. regardless of where they live.

Students in grades K-8 are assigned to Halsey Boulevard or Bull Street based on their area of residency.
- Students who live in peninsular Charleston south of Calhoun Street, the West Ashley area, James Island, Folly Beach, Johns Island, Kiawah Island, Wadmalaw Island, Hollywood, Yonges Island, Ravenel, and Meggett will be dropped off and picked up on Halsey Boulevard.

- Students who live in peninsular Charleston north of Calhoun Street, Mt. Pleasant and other East Cooper areas, Daniel Island, and North Charleston or other areas further from school than North Charleston and accessible from Interstate 26, will be dropped off and picked up on Bull Street in the asphalt area next to the school.

Arrival Procedures
We will open our doors by 7:30 each morning. Please do not drop off your children until you see a supervising teacher or administrator. This is essential for student safety.

Students arriving after 8:00 AM should enter through the main entrance of the school. You must ring the doorbell at the main entrance and wait with your child. Students are recorded as being tardy after 8:00, but we will frequently excuse tardiness when major traffic problems affect the Lowcountry. Please remember to update 2 things in the SchoolPass app:
- update your student's arrival (Making Late Arrival Changes).
- reset your student's dismissal plan (carpool, after-school activities, etc.). When a student arrives late, their dismissal plans will not appear in the app (we will not be able to see your child's plan) unless you reset them.

Dismissal Procedures
Please have your SchoolPass car tag affixed to your vehicle.

Walkers and Bikers - Parents should meet their walkers and bikers at the corner of the faculty parking lot on Montagu. Please note this is available only to students living downtown.

It is essential that you do not park across the street from our carpool areas or in the teachers' parking lot in order to walk your children to your car. Please be conscious of everyone's safety and be courteous to your fellow Mason Prep parents. Please be mindful that the need to keep our students safe should take a higher priority than parents’ convenience.

It is critical for our school's neighborhood relations that our parents do not block the driveways of neighboring homes, businesses, and medical facilities.

While waiting in the afternoon dismissal line on Montagu Street, please respect our neighbors by keeping your car in the street, not on their grass.

Please remember that cars leaving the covered driveway area in front of school are to turn only to the left during afternoon pick-up.

Extended Day

Parents do not need to pre-register for Extended Day (3:05-5:45), so you can utilize Extended Day only when you need it.

If your child needs to stay after 3:05 on any given day, all you need to do is mark them for Extended Day via SchoolPass. Here is a video about how to do that. Please note that it is imperative that you go through this process so that we know that your child should remain at school after dismissal.

Extended Day is $10.00 per day and will be billed directly to your account monthly.

Immunization Form

Our school is required by law to obtain immunization forms on all students. If your student is:

New to Mason Prep: please be sure that you have turned in a South Carolina Immunization form within 30 days from the beginning of school. This is a South Carolina law and the school is held accountable for making sure every student has been properly immunized. If a parent has chosen to not have their child immunized, the school must still have a South Carolina Certificate of Immunization indicating that the child has either a Medical Exemption or a Religious Exemption.

A returning seventh grade student: please turn in a new SC Immunization form indicating that your child has received the required Tdap Booster. This immunization is given to your child after age 7, usually at 11-12 years of age. It is a required immunization and a new form indicating such MUST be on file at Mason Prep. If your child was in 6th grade last year, and you have already turned in a form, I do not need another one. If you are unsure, please email me at duffyk@masonprep.org.

For all other students, once you have turned in your form, ONLY updated shot records are needed.

You may email a copy of your form to mainoffice@masonprep.org or fax a copy to 843-723-1104.

**PLEASE NOTE**: The school sends these forms to DHEC. Since they are legal documents, we are required to send them in a certain way. To ensure your forms are correct, please:
- DO send in the correct form (SC DEHEC form 4024) and make sure it is legible. You can obtain the proper South Carolina immunization form from your doctor or from Charleston County Health Department.
- DO make sure your form is regular letter size, 8.5 X 11, and the background should be white.
- Do NOT send a screenshot of your form.
- Do NOT send information from the parent portal.
- Do NOT email a form that is too small or too large.

If you have questions, please contact Nurse Duffy (duffyk@masonprep.org  or 843.723.0664).

Knights Parent Guild

The Knights Parent Guild (KPG) is a long-standing, very active volunteer organization that offers a wide array of support to the students, families, faculty, and staff of the school. The KPG also offers many volunteer opportunities that are a great way to meet other parents and get involved. These opportunities can fit different schedules, so everyone can join in the fun. A packet containing membership information and volunteer opportunities will be sent to you toward the beginning of school.

Lunches

Students may either bring lunch from home or purchase lunch from the KPG. Mason Prep's lunch service is provided by Schoolhouse Fare and is coordinated by the Knights Parent Guild (thank you, KPG!). All lunch orders are placed online.
-- You may find all the information about registering with Schoolhouse Fare and ordering here.
-- Order online.

Please note:
-- Each student needs to bring a refillable water bottle to school.
-- Please have your child bring a snack each day.

SchoolPass

We partner with SchoolPass to enhance safety on our campus, increase efficiency in the carpool line, and provide parents with an additional means of communication. SchoolPass is an app that you download to your phone (it may also be accessed via a desktop computer).

We use SchoolPass in the following ways:

Carpool Line
SchoolPass allows us to dismiss students more safely, quickly, and efficiently. Students remain inside the school building during carpool time. Families are given special RFID tags for their cars (you will receive yours in the mail), which are scanned by a staff member as you pull through the carpool line. The system notifies the teacher who is supervising your student so that your child can be at the door and ready to come to your car by the time you arrive at the front of the line.

Emergencies
SchoolPass allows the school to notify faculty and staff of an emergency on campus and also provides a means for accounting for each person on campus during an emergency. School emergency alerts can be created for any situation, including suspicious visitors, fire drills, and actual emergency events. Any faculty or staff member can initiate an alert. If an emergency occurs, teachers and staff will take emergency attendance by marking students and anyone else they are with as accounted for. This lets administrators know whether or not each student, faculty/staff member, and any campus visitor has been accounted for, and that information may be passed along to police, fire, etc. SchoolPass also allows the school to send emergency and non-emergency messages (like weather closures) to our school community.

Visitor Management
We can screen and track all campus visitors including parents, vendors, and volunteers. Each new visitor checks in with the office and provides a driver's license so that the system can complete a background check. The visitor then receives a badge, which they wear during their time on campus. Parents go through the background check on their first visit to school, but not subsequent visits.

Attendance
Parents are asked to self-report their student’s attendance status from the SchoolPass app rather than contacting the office or the child's teacher. If your child is sick, will be late to school, or if you need to pick them up early, you can report that via the app. SchoolPass will automatically notify the office and the child's teacher.

Team Sports

Students in grades 4-8 may choose to participate on an MPS team. Additionally, students in grades K-3 may play on one of our developmental basketball teams. You will receive an email soon outlining the opportunities available for the 2026-27 school year.

Uniforms

Students in grades K-8 wear school uniforms 3 days a week and PE uniforms 2 days a week. Pre-K students are encouraged to wear K-4 PE uniforms 5 days per week. If they would like to wear K-4 Daily uniforms on non-PE days, they may.

Here are our uniform guidelines for the 2026-27 school year. A few things to note:

  • Daily school uniforms are required and should be purchased through Lands' End. We recommend that uniform orders be placed with Lands' End ASAP to receive your uniform pieces before school starts.
  • PE uniforms should be worn only on PE days (except for Pre-K students).
  • The only hoodies/sweatshirts allowed to be worn at school are Mason Prep hoodies/sweatshirts.

Also, the Knights Parent Guild sells used uniforms throughout the year. Parents can purchase gently used PE and regular uniforms at a greatly reduced price. The clothing for sale is from an ever-changing inventory of parent-donated, clean uniforms in good condition. Notices about upcoming sales appear in the Knightly News.
